It is advisable to book your project in as early as possible before your deadline to avoid a last-minute rush. If, for example, you ask me to check a 100,000-word thesis three days before your submission deadline, I am unlikely to be able to help you in a meaningful way.

Before I can give you an accurate quote (i.e. hourly rate plus an approximation of the time the work will take), I will need to see either your whole project or a sample (a minimum of 1000 words). You will also be required to complete a client brief form by email. This form will guide you to detail your exact brief, how you would like to receive your completed work and any house style or formatting requirements etc. Once you have supplied these, you will be offered a quote for an hourly rate and an approximation of the time I would expect it to take. At your request, I am happy to carry out a sample proof/edit (one or two pages) of your work based on my interpretation of your brief.

If you decide to hire me to undertake your work, you will be asked to read and accept a Terms and Conditions document before work commences. Once you have received your work, you will be invoiced. Payment should be made by cheque by the date stated on the invoice. Cheques should be made payable to: Amanda George (Perfect Words).

Students are strongly advised to check with their supervisors/faculties that the use of a proofreader/copy-editor is considered acceptable practice; the use of a proofreader/copy-editor should be appropriately acknowledged in the body of the work.

If you decide you wish to hire me to undertake your work, you will be asked to pay a deposit by Paypal (approximately half of your estimated bill) to secure your booking. You do not need to have a Paypal account to do this, it is totally secure and you will not incur any fees. The deposit is fully refundable if for any reason I am unable to carry out the work, or if you have a genuine reason for cancelling. You will also be required to read and accept the Terms and Conditions document that you will be sent at this stage.
Upon completion of the project, you will receive by email your work, accompanying query sheet and invoice and you will be asked to pay the remaining sum in full (i.e. your total bill minus your deposit) by the date stated on the invoice. I reserve the right to ask for payment in advance of the work being released under certain circumstances. I will be happy to answer any questions or queries you may have relating to your work.
